About Gyda
I grew up in Pasadena, California, in a Thai immigrant family. I knew I wanted to make an impact on the world by doing hard things, which eventually led me to engineering. Later, I left home for the Midwest to pursue my B.S. and M.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering at Northwestern University.
My day-to-day work on implantable medical devices has shown me that bringing a product to life is rarely about getting one thing to work in isolation. It's about understanding what happens when technology and people interact—and using engineering (+ plenty of hands-on debugging!) to make sense of the unexpected.
I'd describe myself as hopeful, driven, and creative. Throughout my career, I hope to keep people at the center of my work, drive honest and high quality engineering design, and create meaningful innovations for societal good.
Outside of engineering, I'm an artsy and active gal with probably too many hobbies. I love handmade art, whether that means carving a linocut print or painting a refreshing scene, and I'm usually training for a race or climbing mountains for the views.
